Teachers provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic
subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social
growth. They enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements, or required training for subject and level assigned
Valid Texas teaching certificate for English as a Second Language supplemental
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area(s)
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Student teaching, clinical teaching, teacher residency (preferred)

Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 40+ lbs.)
Occasional district-wide travel
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, effective management and public relation skills; maintain emotional control under stress
