Job summary

Cullman City Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for 2nd grade to cover a leave of absence from January 4, 2027 through April 5, 2027. This assignment is not full-time employment and does not include benefits.

Requirements include a valid Substitute License or State Teaching Certificate. The role reports to the Principal and adheres to the current Alabama evaluation program. Pay rates are $150 per day with a Sub License and $250 per day with a Teaching License.

Qualifications

• Valid Substitute License or State Teaching Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Determines individual and class needs.
• Supervises students in educational settings.
• Establishes objectives and develops and implements a program of instruction that meets the individual needs and abilities of students.
• Develops instructional activities that are consistent with local and state courses of study and curriculum guides.
• Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
• Assesses student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives and student outcomes and maintains appropriate evaluation documentation.
• Communicates to student and parents/guardians (either in writing or verbally) instructional expectations, student progress or lack of progress.
• Assists in the documentation of student progress by efficiently maintaining and submitting appropriate records and reports.
• Participates as needed in IEP meetings for IDEA students.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and in other areas of the school.
• Participates with staff in selecting instructional books, equipment, and curricula.
• Exhibits positive human relations skills.
• Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
• Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations.
• Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.
• Maintains proper certification by attending college, workshop and professional development courses.
• Maintains professionalism and ethics in collaboration with school leaders, staff, parents and students.
• Attends all faculty meetings, PTA meetings, and other meetings as required by the Superintendent.
• Performs co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and other school related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
