Qualifications

• Valid City of Houston 2nd Grade Stationary Engineer License required.
• EPA Universal License required.

• Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Strong technical knowledge with problem-solving skills.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the operation, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of various mechanical systems within the facility, including Boilers, HVAC, Refrigeration, Ice Plant, and other critical equipment. This role works with numerous system components and mechanisms to identify and correct equipment issues, replace parts, adjust system controls, and ensure equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

YOUR IMPACT

• Maintain and monitor the Boilers, Chillers, HVAC, Refrigeration, Ice Plant, and all other critical equipment within the United Airport Facilities.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment to ensure long-term operational efficiency and reliability.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, and other mechanical systems using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Replace system components and adjust controls as needed to maintain and improve equipment performance.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with the customer, coworkers, and management staff.
• Accept and complete work delegated by the work order coordinator, supervision, or via the CMMS.
• Maintain accurate information, logs, maintenance activities, repairs, and PM/CM documentation within the CMMS.
• Perform and verify work is completed correctly, safely, in an environmentally compliant manner, and on time.
• Perform all work in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
• Complete assigned projects and special work as required.
• Utilize work time effectively and efficiently to support facility operations.
• Train and mentor other technicians as needed.
• Comply with the company safety program, required trainings, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid City of Houston 2nd Grade Stationary Engineer License required
• EPA Universal License required
• High School diploma or GED equivalent required
• Valid Driver's License required
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
• Demonstrated strong technical knowledge and aptitude
• Strong attention to detail with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of an airport
• Ability to work Day or Night shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule of approximately 3 1/2 days on and 3 1/2 days off

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience maintaining and repairing Boilers, HVAC, Refrigeration, Chillers, and related mechanical systems in an industrial or commercial environment
• Previous experience utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Experience training or mentoring maintenance technicians

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of a Stationary Engineer, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces. Ladder work is required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircraft and within confined areas of baggage conveyor systems. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Good hand/eye coordination is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment is similar to airport operations with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircraft and heavy equipme
