Job summary

Alpha School in the United States is hiring a 2nd Grade Teacher to lead a K-3 cohort and coach students through life skills. You will spend half the day conducting energetic, one-hour life-skills workshops and the other half coaching students individually and in small groups, using learning analytics to drive progress.

You will not be delivering traditional curricula but will tailor proven playbooks to help children grow confidence, resilience, and communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least 3 years of direct work with children ages 4–9 in teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, or similar environments.
• Experience leading group activities for young children with engaging structures.
• Proven track record of motivating children to achieve challenging goals with concrete examples.
• Willingness to work on-site at Alpha campuses and adapt coaching based on feedback.

Responsibilities

• Lead life-skills workshops that help K-3 students master communication, focus, feedback, and other durable skills through active participation.
• Coach students one-on-one and in small groups, using analytics and strong relationships to keep them on track for ambitious weekly goals.
• Assess life-skill mastery through Alpha's Test2Pass framework and coach until real understanding is shown.
• Adapt coaching style to developmental needs of the cohort, using storytelling, movement, and age-appropriate activities.
• Build relationships that encourage students to stretch beyond what they thought possible.
