Job summary

Hornblower Group seeks a Second Assistant Engineer for Seaward Services on TSVRON vessels operating out of Norfolk. The role supports safe operation of propulsion and auxiliary systems, standing watches, and assisting senior engineers in maintenance and repairs. Secret clearance preferred and US work authorization is required.

Pay rate is $46.15/hour with potential overtime on mission. Live in the Norfolk, VA area and participate in both underway and in-port engineering duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• MMC with STCW endorsements meeting the standard for Chief/Second Engineer Officer of 3,000 kW (4,000 HP) or more.
• USCG Medical Certificate meeting engineering service standards.
• TWIC is required for access to U.S. ports and ships.
• Passport to permit international travel and vessel assignments.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering operations and shipboard machinery management.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections and troubleshooting on propulsion and auxiliary systems.
• Stand engine room watches and assist with underway and in-port engineering duties.
• Respond as on-call Duty Engineer when in homeport per watch rotation.
• Maintain engineering logs and maintenance records.
