Job summary

Adventist HealthCare in Gaithersburg, MD, is seeking an experienced Stationary Engineer 2nd Class to join the Operations Facilities Department. You will manage plant equipment, HVAC systems, and building automation, ensuring reliability and energy efficiency across the hospital campus.

The role requires 2-4 years in central utility plant operations, Maryland licensing or intent to obtain, and a valid US driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-4 years of experience in commercial or hospital central utility plant operations.
• Maryland 2nd Class Stationary Engineer License or ability to take the exam within 12 months.
• 3rd Class Stationary Engineer License state of Maryland strongly preferred.
• Valid US Driver’s License Required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and control plant equipment including air handlers, steam stations, emergency generators, fuel systems, and related equipment.
• Operate, maintain, and service building assets, HVAC systems, BAS, CMMS, plumbing, steam, vessels, pumps, motors, fire protection, nurse call, and related systems.
• Provide EMS/BAS oversight to optimize comfort and energy set points and setbacks.
• Complete assigned monthly PM work orders on time.
• Document all work performed in the CMMS database.
• Diagnose and repair DX HVAC equipment, AHU, VAV systems.
• Research and select materials for HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned.
