Cherokee Town & Country Club, located in the Atlanta, GA area, is seeking an honest, trustworthy, hardworking, innovative, and detail-oriented individual to join our Golf Course Maintenance team as a 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.

The 2nd Assistant Superintendent works with all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the golf course. This individual is expected to observe golf course conditions, recognize opportunities for improvement, and make suggestions. The position also requires someone who is comfortable speaking in front of large groups, can communicate in basic workplace Spanish, interacts professionally with members, and brings a positive attitude and strong work ethic to the team.

Cherokee has a long-standing history of developing Golf Course Maintenance professionals and preparing them for advancement into leadership positions throughout the industry.
Work alongside experienced Golf Course Maintenance leadership in a progressive operation focused on training, development, innovation, and teamwork.
During peak season, our Golf Course Maintenance team includes approximately 50–64 employees, providing valuable experience working within and helping lead a large team.
Gain exposure to future construction and renovation work associated with the Club's Golf Course Master Plan with architect Andrew Green, including greens, tees, fairways, irrigation, drainage infrastructure, and bunkers.
A portion of our Golf Course Maintenance staff is highly tenured, creating a strong sense of family, teamwork, and pride in the operation.
- Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to supervise, schedule, and train a large crew of full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees.
- Observe golf course conditions and provide suggestions and recommendations to Golf Course Maintenance leadership.
- Incorporate and enforce safe work practices throughout daily operations.
- Provide safety training to employees as directed.
- Apply fertilizers and plant protectants.
- Calibrate sprayers and spreaders used for applications.
- Accurately record fertilizer and plant protectant applications.
- Help ensure applications and practices comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform irrigation scheduling.
- Complete basic irrigation repairs.
- Execute and manage golf course improvement projects.
- Perform basic mowing tasks and cultural practices when needed.
- Recognize golf course maintenance problems and bring a strong eye for detail to daily course conditions.
- Interact professionally with Club members throughout the day.
- Communicate effectively with employees and leadership, including speaking in front of larger groups.
- Work effectively as part of a large Golf Course Maintenance team.
- Assist fellow employees and departments as needed while demonstrating Cherokee's “What can I do? How can I help?” philosophy.

- Is interested in gaining exposure to construction and renovation work involving greens, tees, fairways, irrigation, drainage infrastructure, and bunkers.
- 1–3 years of golf course maintenance experience.
- Ability to obtain a Georgia pesticide license within six months of employment.
This position provides hands-on exposure to a substantial and progressive Golf Course Maintenance operation.
- Maintenance Team: Approximately 50–64 employees during peak season.
- Equipment: A combination of John Deere and Toro equipment.
- Irrigation: Rain Bird irrigation central and controllers.
- Typical Work Hours: Approximately 45–55 hours per week, with regularly scheduled time off during the season.
- Professional Development: Cherokee has a consistent history of advancement for Assistant Superintendents within the golf industry.
- Future Development: The Club has secured golf course architect Andrew Green to create a Golf Course Master Plan for the entire property, creating opportunities for exposure to future construction and renovation projects.
Throughout Ken Lee's 14-year tenure as Director of Golf Course Operations, he has had the opportunity to see several former Superintendents advance into larger leadership roles throughout the golf industry.

Compensation range $47,000 - $60,000
