Job description

Job Title: Inspector

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Inspection Supervisor/Team Lead, this person is responsible for inspecting finished fabric.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This list provides a representative sample of responsibilities and tasks, but is not exhaustive.

  1. Ensure a safe work environment and identify training opportunities to reduce accidents and injuries.
  2. Ensure daily production goals are met.
  3. Position full horse and move empty horse aside.
  4. Align the end of the fabric with the leading end and use Swiftack to fasten the ends.
  5. Start the machine, monitor fabric running, and inspect for defects according to SOP.
  6. Use scissors to cut out bad seams or defects.
  7. Operate the sewing machine to sew fabric; use tape to mask seams on both sides if required.
  8. Use Swiftack and/or china marker to flag defects.
  9. Record defects in the inspection system and report questionable material to the supervisor or lead.
  10. Place empty tube, cut swatch, tape tube if needed, engage fabric, measure width, and attach a ticket.
  11. Verify arrow direction on the initial roll of the lot, then doff the full roll.
  12. Cut samples for lab, collect paperwork, record production, fill out grade forms, and deliver samples and paperwork to the lab.
  13. Receive instructions, gather work tools, store them, and get supplies.
  14. Fill Swiftack thread sewing machine and perform other related tasks.
  15. Maintain good housekeeping in the work area.

Additional responsibilities include paying attention to detail, executing tasks effectively, communicating effectively, and having lean manufacturing experience is strongly desired.

ABILITY TO

  • Follow detailed procedures accurately and consistently.
  • Handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, sitting or standing for long periods.
  • Understand and grasp concepts within a reasonable time.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Understand and follow quality and safety standards.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

Required during production duties:

  • Eye protection
  • Hearing protection
  • Steel toe/non-slip shoes
  • Reflective vest (where applicable)
