Job summary

Actalent is seeking a 2D Design Engineer / Layout Engineer for a contract role based out of Pittsburgh, with long-term relocation to Austin, TX after training in Pittsburg. You will lead end-to-end site and factory layout management with a strong focus on 2D design, integrating production systems, material flow, and facilities planning.

The role requires 7+ years in layout planning, proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit, and cross-functional collaboration across manufacturing, operations, and supply

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelors in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7+ years in site or factory layout planning or industrial engineering.
• Experience in large-scale manufacturing environments (auto, battery, energy, or heavy manufacturing).

Responsibilities

• Lead factory layout design across lines, warehouse, and process areas.
• Develop long-term site master plans for capacity expansion.
• Define layout governance, change management, and drafting standards.
• Create and maintain block layouts and 2D/3D layouts aligned with plans.
• Analyze space utilization and flow to improve efficiency.
