Job summary

nVent is seeking an AutoCAD Designer to join its engineering team. The role focuses on creating detailed 2D AutoCAD shop drawings for custom electrical enclosures and related components, turning concepts and BOMs into production-ready drawings.

The designer will develop complete drawing packages from customer designs, engineering specs, and BOMs, ensure drawings adhere to tolerances, and collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to optimize manufacturability and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical training in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience creating 2D AutoCAD drawings in manufacturing, sheet metal, fabrication, or industrial settings preferred.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD with dynamic blocks, tool palettes, drawing libraries, and efficient drafting workflows.
• Experience creating detailed mechanical and fabrication drawings from engineering requirements and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for electrical enclosures, panels, brackets, and components.
• Develop complete drawing packages from customer designs, engineering specs, and BOMs.
• Produce manufacturing and shop drawings used in fabrication, assembly, and production.
• Revise drawings per engineering changes, customer feedback, and production needs.
• Verify drawings meet tolerances, material specs, and design standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
