Job summary

Pilgrim USA is seeking an experienced electrician/maintenance technician to troubleshoot and repair production line equipment, install wiring per NEC, and maintain high voltage systems. You will read complex drawings, calibrate drives and PLCs, and keep safety procedures up to date.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years on production lines, strong electrical and mechanical skills, and ability to work extended hours during emergencies in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

  • Industrial / commercial electrical background with high-speed production line experience.
  • Must read blueprints, layouts and install/maintain electrical equipment.
  • Experience with PLCs, electrical controls and safety procedures.
  • Must be able to work unscheduled hours in emergencies.
  • Proficient with electrical test equipment, meters and tools.
  • 3–5 years installing, troubleshooting and maintaining production line equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair production line equipment.
  • Inspect, maintain, repair and overhaul electromechanical and solid-state electrical equipment.
  • Install new electrical equipment and wiring per code and standards.
  • Maintain electrical systems for facilities and production equipment.
  • Perform high voltage switching and operate generators as needed.
  • Read engineering drawings to install and calibrate equipment.
  • Install conduit, wiring, and control panels.
  • Maintain drive systems, PLCs and control logic as required.
  • Support maintenance programs and update drawings and safety procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Troubleshoot and repair production line equipment.

  • Inspect, maintain repair and overhaul electromechanical and solid-state electrical equipment, using a variety of electrical test equipment, meters, powered and non-powered tools and equipment.

  • Provides maintenance services ensuring that all equipment is in good repair and in a safe operating condition

  • Install new electrical and electronic equipment and electrical wiring according to the National Electrical Code and company electrical standards.

  • Maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems for Project facilities and production equipment.

  • Perform high voltage switching and operate generators in support of operations.

  • Determine the existence of electrical hazards and problems. Safely isolate, ground, and prepare circuits and electrical apparatus to enable repairs.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain motor control centers, motor start circuits, control loops, generators, high voltage switchgear, protective relaying, and related equipment.

  • Read/interpret engineering drawings and manuals to install, calibrate and maintain electrical apparatus. Work from complex engineering and manufacturers drawings or manuals to complete projects and assigned work.

  • Install electrical conduit, pull and terminate wiring.

  • Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, and control panels.

  • Install and maintain drive systems such as variable frequency drives, eddy current, and DC drives. Install and maintain programmable logic control systems (PLC). Interpret and/or modify PLC control logic as necessary. Install and calibrate pressure, temperature, flow, and level controls.

  • Repair or replace faulty electrical equipment, including electronic controls, meters, outlets, and panels.

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining scheduled maintenance programs for plant equipment. Maintain records, update drawings, and develop safety procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned in support of the plant Maintenance departments.


Qualifications


  • Industrial / commercial electrical background with high-speed production line experience.

  • Must have working knowledge of all areas of maintenance and advanced mechanical ability.

  • Must have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to read blueprints, layout, install & maintain a wide variety of new and existing electrical equipment and processes troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing & electrical controls

  • Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures and conditions.

  • Must have good working knowledge of Program Logic Controllers (PLC).

  • Must be able to provide the required tools at personal expense.

  • Must be able to use multi meter accurately and safely.

  • 3-5 years of experience in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of production line equipment.

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, including high-voltage switchgear, protective relaying, grounding procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, safety procedures, and electrical test equipment.

  • Ability to work unscheduled hours during emergencies and/or unusual situations (24 hours/ 7 days week when needed).

  • Knowledge of computer software/hardware with basic programming is highly desirable.


ACTIVITIES: Very active position, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day

HEARING: Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

REPETITIVE MOTION: Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.

VISUAL ABILITIES: Acute close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds throughout the day.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to work for long hours in a no-kill food processing environment, where it is wet, damp, and cold. Employees are expected to remain in these conditions for most of their workdays.
