Job summary

Bechtel invites students to join its Cybersecurity Engineering internship program. Interns work in multi-disciplinary teams and support ICS cybersecurity services on projects from design through completion. Locations may include Houston, TX, Reston, VA, or other project sites.

Candidates must be enrolled in BS in CS/EE/ChemE/MechEng and have completed at least one year of study; willing to relocate/travel; able to pass drug screen and background check; authorization to work in the US.

• Evaluating vendor cybersecurity products and writing evaluations results.

• Providing logic and Human Machine Interface programming for cybersecurity testing rigs.
• Assisting in providing patch management activities for the overall Technical Center.
• Providing status of ongoing design and development activities.
• Working on special projects like the ICs Trainer System and the ancillary work activities that support it.

• Hourly Range: $25.12 - $28.49 (Determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant. A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City or San Francisco, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.)

Project Overview

Bechtel’s internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands‑on experience. Many new university graduate hires began their careers at Bechtel as a summer intern. Locations will vary based on project needs and may include Houston, TX, Reston, VA, or various project sites.

Job Summary

Cybersecurity Engineering interns work in multi‑disciplinary teams and provide support to industrial control system (ICS) cybersecurity services to projects as part of the design or after design is complete.

Major Responsibilities

• Assisting with control system network design development.
• Evaluating vendor cybersecurity products and writing evaluations results.
• Working with NIST-based and other standards to achieve cybersecurity work activities.
• Setting up and troubleshooting cybersecurity test configurations.
• Providing logic and Human Machine Interface programming for cybersecurity testing rigs.

Education And Experience Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a four‑year Bachelor of Science degree program in Computer Science, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electro‑Mech Engineering at an accredited college or university.
• Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in one of the above fields.
• Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
• Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites.
• Must be able to pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check.

Required Knowledge And Skills

• Currently enrolled in a Master of Science degree program in Computer Science, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college or university.
• Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
