Job summary

HB Staffing is seeking a Test Technician to join a growing and dynamic team in El Toro, CA. The position offers a 1st shift from 7:00am to 3:30pm with a fixed pay rate of $26/hour, full-time employment, and contract status.

You will set up test equipment and fixtures, perform functional and electrical checks on electronic assemblies, troubleshoot and repair systems, and document results while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of electronic test experience.
• Experience using various electronic test software.
• Two years of formal technical training beyond high school preferred; Associate degree in Electronics, Avionics, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Set up test equipment and fixtures according to instructions and data.
• Perform functional and electrical checks on electronic assemblies and systems.
• Troubleshoot electronic assemblies, boards, and test systems to identify and resolve issues.
• Operate test equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and megger.
• Document test results and maintain records per procedures.

2. Experience using various electronic test software.
3. Experience developing and writing Flying Probe test programs preferred.

Education:

1. Two years of formal technical training beyond high school, such as an Associate degree in Electronics, Avionics, or a related technical field, preferred.
2. IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, and/or J-STD-001 certification preferred.

Job Description:

1. Set up test equipment and fixtures according to engineering instructions, production illustrations, manufacturer specifications, service manuals, technical bulletins, and approved technical data.
2. Perform functional and electrical checks on electronic assemblies, circuits, equipment, and systems.
3. Troubleshoot electronic assemblies, circuit boards, electro‑mechanical equipment, and computer‑controlled systems to identify and resolve issues.
4. Operate oscilloscopes, multimeters, meggers, and other electronic test and repair equipment.
5. Perform hands‑on testing, troubleshooting, repair, and operational checkout of electronic systems.
6. Assist with installation and testing of electronic assemblies, communications circuits, fixtures, accessories, and related components.
7. Replace or repair equipment power connections and connect or disconnect electronic modules for functional testing.
8. Operate support equipment and various test software necessary to perform functional and electrical testing.
9. Perform mechanical operations required for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electronic equipment.
10. Assist engineers and technicians in other areas of specialization with hands‑on testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
11. Utilize ICT and Flying Probe Test equipment and develop/write Flying Probe test programs as needed.
12. Document test results, troubleshooting activities, repairs, and other required production information.
13. Follow all applicable engineering instructions, customer procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.

Position Requirements:

1. Strong working knowledge of electronics, electronic testing, and repair equipment.
2. Extensive troubleshooting experience with electronic systems and assemblies.
3. Proficiency using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, meggers, multimeters, and similar tools.
4. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
5. Ability to apply shop mathematics to testing and troubleshooting activities.
6. Knowledge of ICT (In‑Circuit Test) and/or Flying Probe Test preferred.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
8. Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and production personnel.
9. Ability to safely operate the tools and equipment required to perform assigned duties.
