Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
• Approximately 2–4 years of relevant engineering experience
• Foundational experience with systems engineering activities such as requirements development, interface definition, risk tracking, system architecture, trade studies, or technical reviews
• Interest in complex, software‑intensive, networked, or distributed systems
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
• Strong technical writing and communication skills
• Ability to learn new technical domains and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.

Responsibilities

• Support systems engineering activities for NASA space communications and enterprise systems projects
• Contribute to the development of a network-of-networks orchestration capability spanning multiple communications networks and services
• Develop, document, and maintain system requirements, interfaces, risks, and technical information
• Support system architecture development, trade studies, gap analyses, and technical assessments
• Help define and analyze interfaces among mission systems, communications networks, enterprise services, and software platforms
• Coordinate with NASA customers, engineers, software teams, network stakeholders, and program leadership
• Assist with requirements traceability, configuration management, action tracking, and technical risk management
• Participate in technical working groups, engineering reviews, and stakeholder meetings
• Analyze technical data and help identify integration issues, dependencies, and potential solutions
• Prepare technical documentation, briefings, meeting materials, and decision‑support products

What You’ll Do

What You Need

Preferred Skills

• Experience or academic background in space communications, satellite communications, ground networks, or mission operations
• Familiarity with enterprise networks, network management, service orchestration, or network‑of‑networks concepts
• Experience with software systems, APIs, data exchange, automation, scripting, or cloud‑based services
• Familiarity with systems integration, interoperability, and end‑to‑end service management
• Exposure to Model‑Based Systems Engineering, SysML, or digital engineering practices
• Experience with requirements and collaboration tools such as IBM DOORS, Jira, Confluence, Cameo, or similar platforms
• Experience supporting NASA, another federal agency, or an aerospace organization
• Familiarity with communications network performance, availability, reliability, or cybersecurity considerations
• Experience creating clear technical documentation and presentations
