Job Description

The mission of Blackstone Valley Prep is to prepare every scholar to achieve their goals for college and the world beyond. BVP’s scholars will graduate empowered as learners, individuals, and community members to access opportunities and break down barriers.

- Blackstone Valley Prep operates as a network of schools. Staff members may be assigned or reassigned to different BVP campuses, grade levels, or programs as needed to best support scholars and organizational needs. Placement decisions will consider individual strengths and certifications.

Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in a monthly PLC aimed at sharing best practices, collecting and analyzing school-based data, setting outcomes and deadlines, and identifying and resolving challenges.
- Support school implementation of ELLevation, including:
- Ensure deadlines are met for completion of progress monitoring forms (MOY & EOY)
- Ensure deadlines are met for updating MLL plans (goals & modifications)
- Add new scholars to ELLevation and enter relevant information.
- Coordinate/administer/ ELLevation benchmark testing to subset of MLL scholars
- Develop an ACCESS test schedule for your school to ensure 95+% participation in ACCESS testing (this includes planning who the administrators will be in your building and ensuring they have the proper training completed, as well as coordinating with Special Pops or deans to ensure accommodations are in place for dually identified scholars)
- Support planning & attend annual Kindergarten Information Night for newly identified MLLs and their families (Only applicable chairs in K-4.)
- If placed at an elementary school building, coordinate home language screening and KW-APT screening for all incoming kindergarteners to ensure 100% on time identification of MLLs
- Assist the BVP-wide MLL Chair by recruiting for ESL certification programs such as the RWU program
- Provide ongoing and job-embedded professional development opportunities for staff on topics related to multilingual learners, as requested by Heads of School and the network CIA team. This must include:
- Working with building teachers to implement/embed MLL supports in tier 1 curriculum
- Leading professional development sessions in August
- Periodically attend Academics Meetings with Network CIA and/or school leadership teams for the purpose of providing professional learning, leading data reviews, or participating in planning conversations
- In addition, this might include
- Leading co-observations and walkthroughs with leadership or teachers
- Leading huddles or school-based professional development sessions
- Meeting with specific teachers to provide feedback and support on instruction
- Consult with special education team regarding dully identified scholars
- Support planning & attend Annual ACCESS Test Celebration Night
- Coordinate and distribute MLL classification letters to families at the BOY
- Coordinate and distribute MLL Exit or Continuation letters to families at EOY
