TITLE: Bus Driver
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor and/or Assistant Transportation Supervisor
To provide safe and efficient transportation on a daily basis so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantages from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular programs.
Bus monitor (time sheets)
Valid Mississippi Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.
Valid Mississippi School Bus Driver Certificate. Must annually pass a regular school bus drivers training course approved by the MS State Board of Education. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be of good moral character, emotionally stable, cheerful, confident and considerate. Must attend and pass a basic First Aid course each year, as required. Such additional health and age requirements as the State and Superintendent may require.
High School Diploma or equivalent - preferred
Ability to read a limited number of words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit and drive and occasionally required to walk or stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee frequently repeats the same hand, arm or finger motion many times. The employee frequently uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds (such as students). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and peripheral vision.
Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students. Ability to read and understand maps. Ability to pass Mississippi Department of Transportation training programs and tests. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in temperatures above 100 and below 32 and occasionally will walk on slippery surfaces. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with public and other workers. The employee has direct responsibility for the safety and well-being of others. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud to where you have to raise your voice to be heard.

Breach of said professional conduct includes but is not limited to: neglect of duty, dishonesty, engagement in acts that are contrary to VWSD policy, unlawful activities, or any other conduct which is seriously prejudicial to the school district.
