Job description

Temporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer in Construction Management

Department Overview

The Department of Construction Management is a team of interdisciplinary faculty and staff committed to educating future professionals in the construction industry. Opportunities include major in Construction Management, minor in Construction Management, major in Architectural Studies, Master of Science in Construction Management, and Professional Development Program.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will teach a broad range of graduate and undergraduate courses in construction management. Teaching interests include building materials and methods, construction graphics, cost estimating, planning and scheduling, construction safety, design‑build delivery, project controls, preconstruction services, generative design, lean construction, BIM, robotics, automation, and data sciences in construction. Candidates may also advise students and supervise projects.

Instructor Responsibility

Temporary faculty members shall implement university policies, prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled in the specified mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).

Conditional Appointment

Appointments are contingent upon budget, enrollment, and collective bargaining agreement provisions. Faculty must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.

Compensation

Salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358). For a Temporary Faculty with a Master’s degree, the monthly salary for full‑time teaching (15 WTUs) ranges from $5,507 to $6,677, with starting salaries near the minimum. Salary is adjusted based on WTUs assigned per term.

Anticipated Semester

The pool remains open and is filled as needed. Positions vary by semester and may require short‑notice availability. The pool is active for two academic terms; reapplication is required to stay beyond that.

  • Fall 2026: August 19 – December 22, 2026
  • Spring 2027: January 15 – May 26, 2027
Required Qualifications

Education

Earned Master’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field, or a Master of Business Administration with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering.

Experience

  • Commitment to working effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
  • Evidence of professional experience.
  • Experience in design and construction development practice and teaching related topics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful graduate‑level teaching experience with evidence (e.g., evaluations).
  • Teaching experience in construction management at undergraduate level.
  • Expertise in design‑build and collaborative project delivery methods.
