Qualifications

Position Purpose

10-Month position working when school is in session

8:30 AM- 3:30 PM (6.5.hours/day)

2026-2027 Class III, Instructional Aide, rate of pay: $15.30 / hr.

This position is responsible for providing assistance with the physical, educational and social needs of students.

Essential Job Functions
  • 1. Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring for students.
  • 2. Perform and monitor instructional activities as directed by the Title I teacher and/or principal.
  • 3. Collaborate with teachers and staff in the overall educational development of students.
  • 4. Assist with the administration of local, state, and/or national assessment measures and progress monitoring tools.
  • 5. Assist in the collecting and compiling of student assessment scores and records.
  • 6. Provide updates to appropriate teachers and/or administrators regarding student academic progress, behavioral changes or concerns, and physical needs.
  • 7. May assist or conduct parent involvement activities.
  • 8. Complete required district training programs and continuing education hours as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).
  • 9. May assist with enrichment or summer extended learning opportunities.
  • 10. Adhere to daily duties and instructional schedules as established by the teacher and/or principal.
  • 11. Recognize teacher and/or principal as having authority in managing all student programs.
  • 12. Assist with the preparation of classroom materials, bulletin boards, and other displays.
  • 13. Encourage and model a positive, mutually supportive classroom and building environment.
  • 14. Strictly comply with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) confidentiality obligations.
Additional Duties
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Perform clerical, housekeeping and other duties as assigned by the teacher and/or principal.
Equipment

Use standard office equipment, such as personal computers and copiers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

All paraprofessionals in schools supported by Title I funds in part or in full, must have a secondary high school diploma or its equivalent. In addition, paraprofessional must have two full years of study at an institution of higher learning, an Associate's (or higher) degree, or demonstrated competency in basic academic skills as determined by the CAPE test. Basic computer competency skills are required.

The following clearances must be provided upon hire and updated every five years in accordance with Act 153: PA State Police-Act 34, Child Abuse- Act 151, and FBI Fingerprint-Act 114. Child Abuse training (or proof of completion) in accordance with Act 126 upon hire and repeated every five years thereafter. A negative TB test is required upon hire.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Ability and desire to work with children of all abilities. Confidentiality and patience are essential.
