Summary
We are seeking experienced Special Education teachers who have a proven track record of achieving results with students with learning, mental, emotional, and physical differences. Candidates should be familiar with Summit Learning curriculum techniques to effectively teach neurodiverse students.
Responsibilities
- Support students with disabilities through 1-1, small group, and general classroom instruction.
- Co-teach English and/or math courses to meet IEP minute requirements.
- Communicate with parents regarding student needs and school adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable special education laws and regulations.
- Possess a valid Special Education Certification to provide IEP minutes.
- Organize and label papers and homework as directed by the special education team.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with policies and laws.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning materials and skills.
- Assist in devising strategies for reinforcing skills based on individual needs.
- Guide independent study, enrichment, and intervention work.
- Provide escort and assistance in various school and community settings as needed.
- Supervise testing, make-up work, and check student assignments.
- Help maintain classroom and facility organization.
- Assist students with physical tasks as needed per IEP, under professional training.
- Alert teachers to individual student issues.
- Supervise children during play and assist with data monitoring.
- Support with lunch, snacks, hygiene routines, and health procedures as per IEP.
- Assist with physical support tasks, including toileting and positioning, when trained.
- Support behavior management strategies for students with challenging behaviors.

Whole School Service
- Serve as SPED Lead through The Excellent School Project (TEP).
- Collaborate to embed inclusive practices and universal design for learning.
- Lead professional development on special education best practices.
- Coordinate with external SPED consultants and compliance officers.
- Develop and monitor IEPs to support student success.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA and state regulations using TEP protocols.
- Mentor educators in data-driven instruction and differentiation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, computer applications, and student information systems like Spedtrak.
Safety Duties & Responsibilities
- Know and teach safety rules and procedures.
- Recognize and report hazards.
- React appropriately to emergencies.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Valid Missouri Teacher Certification in a relevant content area, or willingness to become certified.
- 3+ years of teaching experience (preferred).
- Criminal background check clearance.
- Legal eligibility to work in the U.S.

Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 7:45 am - 4:00 pm.
- Some weekends and evenings may be required.
- Reliable commute or willingness to relocate to Saint Louis, MO 63118.
