SPECIAL EDUCATION LEAD CASE MANAGER

Position Summary
The Special Education Case Manager is responsible for overseeing the Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for students receiving special education services, ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulations. This role focuses on coordination, development, and implementation of IEPs to meet the educational needs of students. It can occasionally require assistance with meeting IEP minutes but is not a central focus of this position.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and monitor the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and 504 Plans for a designated caseload of students
  • Coordinate and lead IEP meetings, ensuring the participation of all required personnel and documentation of proceedings in compliance with IDEA regulations
  • Serve as the primary liaison between school staff, families, and external agencies involved in the education of students with disabilities
  • Coordinate meetings and assessments for students who are in process for special education
  • Administer assessments for students who are in the evaluation or reevaluation process
  • Conduct FBAs and write BIPs
  • Maintain comprehensive records of student progress, IEP documentation, and compliance activities
  • Provide professional guidance and support to teachers and school staff regarding special education regulations and best practices
  • Ensure all special education practices and records are in compliance with state and federal laws and district policies
  • Assist in the development of training materials and deliver training sessions related to IEP processes and compliance standards
  • Create materials [schedules, social stories, visuals, etc.] to support classroom case managers
  • Update and maintain management system
  • Evaluate and respond to the needs of the school and district for process improvements in special education practices

Role Specific Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Valid Wisconsin Special Education teaching or administrative license
  • Thorough knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other relevant federal and state laws
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Basic Qualifications And Requirements

  • Strong commitment to the mission, vision, goals and objectives of One City
  • Commitment to working with children from diverse racial/cultural populations and their families, experience preferred
  • Detail-oriented, thorough, meticulous, and focused on accuracy
  • Ability to regularly and routinely lift and push at least 50 pounds
  • Completion of a background check required
  • Be at least 18 years of age
