The classroom teacher shall be directly responsible to the building principal for the performance of assigned duties. The primary responsibility is to develop an instructional environment and utilize teaching strategies to achieve district goals for students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development.
Qualifications:
The candidate must hold a valid Illinois teaching certificate endorsed in middle grades Math. Additional subject endorsements are preferred.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Plan instructional programs for each student, including diagnosis, prescription, and evaluation.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to students' maturity, interests, and abilities.
- Prepare for classes and provide evidence of preparation upon request.
- Establish and enforce classroom behavior standards fairly and consistently.
- Employ varied instructional techniques and media suited to the physical setting and student needs.
- Implement the district's educational philosophy and instructional goals.
- Take precautions to ensure safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide reports, and communicate with parents as needed.
- Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
- Uphold school rules, policies, and regulations.
- Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours for educational purposes when needed.
- Participate in building and district meetings to promote effective communication and school operations.
- Serve on district committees related to curriculum and instruction; committee work beyond school hours should follow policy guidelines.
- Attend school-sponsored activities.
- Contribute to district decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum, professional development, and well-being.
- Maintain open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
- Supervise assignments for aides, student teachers, and volunteers.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues and community.
- Participate actively in the teacher evaluation process.
- Pursue ongoing professional development through reading, workshops, seminars, and coursework.
- Perform other duties as assigned, aligned with the Core Expectations for Teachers.
Salary and Benefits: Per KEA Union Contract
