We are seeking talented, committed, culturally competent Middle School Math Teachers to join our middle school teams (including grades 5-8) for the 22-23 school year.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Responsibilities:
  • Create an affirming, valued, and challenging environment for students daily
  • Develop rigorous, engaging lesson plans using provided curricula/resources
  • Integrate core values into lessons and school practices, and implement student culture systems and classroom management strategies
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and focused learning environment
  • Analyze student work and data to inform instruction and refine curricula
  • Provide accommodations and modifications as needed for all students’ success
  • Keep accurate student records and communicate regularly with families about progress
  • Model and uphold all school policies
  • Serve as a positive role model for students
Professional Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of your professional growth, including coaching sessions and active practice
  • Participate fully in school-wide professional development
  • Collaborate with grade teams to address challenges and improve practices
  • Provide constructive feedback to peers and leadership
  • If applicable, enroll in or complete a teacher certification program
School Responsibilities:
  • Arrive by 7:30 a.m. and stay until 4:00 p.m. (or 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays for PD)
  • Attend school functions outside regular hours
  • Contribute to school-wide event planning and execution
  • Build strong relationships with families through home visits, events, and calls
  • Perform support duties such as bus, lunch, and dismissal duties
  • Chaperone field trips and lessons
  • Additional duties may be assigned during the year

Additional qualifications include a passion for teaching, ability to foster an inclusive environment, and at least 2 years of full-time urban teaching experience. Pennsylvania State certification Level I or II is preferred; uncertified teachers should be working towards certification within one year and submit transcripts upon hire. All background checks (PA State Police, Child Abuse, ACT 168) must be completed.
