About Our District

Serving over 25,000 students, more than half of whom are students of color, nearly half come from low-income households, and about one-third are English Language Learners speaking over 100 languages. We are dedicated to ensuring every child thrives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use standards (CCSS, SELS, Language) to identify learning targets.
  • Use knowledge of students’ backgrounds, interests, and assessment data to inform planning.
  • Develop daily, weekly, and long-term plans to support student mastery of standards.
  • Establish clear objectives for lessons and communicate them to students.
  • Instruct students using various methods to promote engagement and independence.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.
  • Provide daily opportunities for students to articulate reasoning and share explanations.
  • Design formative assessments and adjust instruction based on data.
  • Give meaningful feedback to promote student progress.
  • Collaborate with staff and families to support student learning.

Core Teaching Expectations:

  • Demonstrate high expectations for all students, fostering equity and excellence.
  • Plan and execute rigorous, engaging lessons with appropriate scaffolds and interventions.
  • Understand and address systemic inequities, making content relevant to students' experiences.
  • Use diverse data sources for diagnosing learning needs and differentiating instruction.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families.
  • Persist through challenges and seek continuous growth through reflection and mentorship.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (official transcripts required).
  • Wisconsin DPI teaching license in Reading (1316) for the relevant grade levels.
  • Applicants must be licensed or willing to obtain licensure within 30 days of employment; unlicensed candidates may be considered if they secure licensure through a district-approved program.
