The Department of Recreation Administration offers five option areas with a BS in Recreation Administration, including community and youth, special events and tourism, outdoor recreation, recreation therapy, and sport and entertainment facility management. The department emphasizes community engagement.
It is part of the College of Health and Human Services, recognized for its excellence and diverse programs that prepare students for successful careers and foster alumni connections.
The successful candidate may teach courses in recreation, tourism, outdoor recreation, special events, and sport and entertainment facility management, including courses like RA 117 (Special Events and Tourism) and RA 131 (Foundations of Special Events and Tourism).
Instructor Responsibilities: Temporary faculty are expected to adhere to university policies, prepare and deliver lectures, hold office hours, assign and grade coursework, and conduct classes as scheduled, whether in-person, online, or hybrid.
Conditional Appointment: Appointments depend on budget and enrollment, following the collective bargaining agreement. Applicants must demonstrate eligibility to work in the U.S. (Fresno State does not sponsor visas).
Compensation: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience, within the CSU salary schedule, approximately $5,507–$6,677/month for full-time teaching (15 WTUs).
Semester Details: The pool is open for ongoing applications; positions are filled based on needs and may start on short notice. The pool remains active for two academic terms, with reapplication needed for continued consideration.
Application Periods: Review begins as early as April 30, 2025, for Fall 2025, with a deadline of June 30, 2025, and for Spring 2026, with a deadline of October 31, 2025. The full job posting closes on March 1, 2026.
