The Department of Recreation Administration offers five option areas with a BS in Recreation Administration, including community and youth, special events and tourism, outdoor recreation, recreation therapy, and sport and entertainment facility management. The department emphasizes community engagement.
It is part of the College of Health and Human Services, recognized as one of the best programs in the state, providing students with diverse experiences for successful careers and opportunities for alumni to stay connected.
The successful applicant may teach courses such as recreation, tourism, outdoor recreation, special events, and sport and entertainment facility management.

Instructor Responsibilities: Temporary faculty must adhere to university policies, prepare and deliver lectures, conduct assessments, hold office hours, and ensure classes meet throughout the semester as scheduled, in modes such as in-person, online, hybrid, or asynchronous.
Conditional Appointment: Appointment depends on budget and enrollment, following the "Order of Work" in the collective bargaining agreement, prioritizing tenure-line faculty and then lecturers.
Applicants must demonstrate eligibility to work in the U.S. (Fresno State does not sponsor visas).
Compensation: Salary is based on qualifications and experience within established ranges, approximately $5,507-6,677/month for full-time teaching (15 WTUs), adjusted based on assigned WTUs.
Semester Details: The pool remains open for two academic terms, with positions filled as needed based on enrollment and funding. Appointments may be made on short notice, and interested applicants must reapply to remain beyond two terms.
Fall 2025: August 18 – December 22, 2025; Spring 2026: January 15 – May 22, 2026.
Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include a PhD/EdD in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism, prior teaching experience, and positive teaching evaluations.
