Job description

TITLE: Special Education Paraprofessional w/ABA

TYPE OF POSITION: Part-Time (.9); anticipated start date 8/25/2025; salary per collective bargaining agreement, commensurate with experience (range $28.41-$30.14/hour)

LOCATION: Hopkinton Integrated Preschool, Hopkinton, Massachusetts

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified candidates

NOTE: Paraprofessional may be required to work the Extended School Year (ESY) program.

The primary responsibility of all Paraprofessionals is to provide social-emotional, behavioral, and instructional support and interventions to students in all settings. The Special Education Paraprofessional with ABA assists classroom and/or special education teachers, the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and other professional staff, using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and other methodologies to support students with disabilities. This role involves supporting students in decreasing maladaptive behaviors that hinder access to the curriculum and development of their potential. The Paraprofessional reports to the Principal and Director of Student Services, with guidance from the BCBA, Learning Specialists, and classroom teachers.

DUTIES:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Providing support to students and teachers based on individual needs and IEP/504 Plans;
  2. Monitoring student behavior as outlined in IEP and Behavior Intervention Plans;
  3. Implementing discrete trial instruction, maintaining documentation on outcomes and behavior analysis data;
  4. Recognizing when strategies are ineffective and seeking guidance to adapt support;
  5. Applying knowledge of learning styles and child development to assist learning and behavior progress;
  6. Providing crisis support using district-approved safety/restraint protocols when necessary;
  7. Offering verbal prompts, redirection, and modeling to facilitate student engagement;
  8. Assisting with personal care if required;
  9. Participating in student assessments as directed;
  10. Performing other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Candidates must have or be:

    • An Associate's Degree or successful completion of the ParaPro exam;
    • Effective communication skills, both oral and written;
    • Experience and willingness to assist students with personal care and daily living skills;
    • Training or experience in ABA; RBT certification is strongly preferred;
    • Licensing by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education in a related field is a plus;
    • Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.
