Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an ED support technician for a 24-hour-per-week schedule, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with alternating weekends and holiday rotations. The role involves cleaning, stocking, patient transport, and assisting in ED procedures and orthopedic setup to support patient care.

Qualifications include a CNA/EMT/MA program graduate or nursing student with clinical rotations, or at least 2 years of ED Tech experience; CPI training within 6 months is required.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) license, EMT license or MA program graduate OR enrollment in nursing program with at least 1 year of clinical rotations, OR 2 years of ED Tech experience.
• CPI certification/training required within 6 months of hire.
• Paraprofessional preference for those with Paramedic license.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, stocks, and readies the ED for patient care.
• Transports patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed.
• Performs clinical duties (EKGs, wound care prep, sterile technique, specimen collection) and assists with labs.
• Assists EDMD and Orthopedics by applying splints/molds and setting up orthopedic clinic.
• Performs lab draws as required.
• Carries out physician/nurse directives and supports ED nursing staff.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Cleans, stocks, and readies the emergency department for care for patients.
• Transports patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed.
• Performs clinical functions, like EKG's, suture set-up, assists in wound cleansing as ordered, utilizes sterile technique when necessary, obtains labs specimens: urine and serum, and other tasks as needed.
• Assists in EDMD and Orthopedist by applying splints, molds and immobilizers to injured extremities as ordered and sets up orthopedic clinic.
• Perform lab draws as required.
• Carries out tasks as directed by physicians, nurse director and ED nursing staff.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required

• Current Certified Nurse Assistant License, EMT License or graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required or current enrollment in a nursing program with at least 1 year of clinical rotations completed; or a minimum of 2 years current experience as an ED Tech.
• CPI required within 6 months of hire.
• Preference given to those who hold a Paramedic license

Pay Range

$19.90 - $34.81

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
