Job summary

LAUKOA is seeking experienced HVAC Mechanics to provide 24/7/365 on-site support for the NIST Boulder campus. The HVAC Mechanic will monitor and maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems, respond to alarms and service calls, and support critical Central Utility Plant operations.

Qualified candidates have 5+ years of HVAC experience, EPA 608 certification, and familiarity with building automation and CMMS systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of HVAC mechanic experience in commercial, industrial, or central plant environments.
• Universal CFC/EPA Section 608 certification.
• Class III technician requirements for refrigerants (40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F).
• Experience with packaged HVAC units, air handling units, pumps, and related systems.
• Experience with building automation systems and CMMS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Remain on the NIST Boulder campus while on duty and respond to alarms and notifications within 15 minutes.
• Support Central Utility Plant operations and respond to campus HVAC alarms, leaks, and equipment issues.
• Perform mechanical room rounds and document conditions with daily reports.
• Maintain HVAC and refrigeration equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
• Coordinate with the on-duty Stationary Engineer and other personnel to ensure campus operations.
• Complete Maximo work orders and maintain accurate records and logs.
