Job summary

State of South Carolina seeks dedicated Firefighter Officers to provide 24/7 emergency response for aircraft, structural, vehicular, medical and other incidents. You will supervise crews, conduct CFETP/ACES training, and ensure readiness of vehicles and equipment.

The role requires NFPA 1001/1072 qualifications, a valid state driver’s license, and successful background checks. Employees enjoy comprehensive benefits and a state employment framework.

Qualifications

• Must meet and maintain NFPA 1001 Firefighter I/II qualifications.
• Must meet NFPA 1072 Hazmat Awareness/Operations/Technician requirements.
• Must pass annual medical examination per NFPA 1582 standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintains 24-hour response capability for emergency calls across multiple domains.
• Supervises firefighting crews and coordinates training per CFETP/ACES/FD standards.
• Operates emergency vehicles and firefighting equipment safely and efficiently.
• Performs hazard assessment and initial incident analysis to protect people and property.
• Delivers fire safety education and manages equipment maintenance and readiness.
