Job summary

Maine State Government seeks an Emergency Communications Specialist to join the Bureau of Emergency Communications in Augusta. You will be the first point of contact for emergencies, coordinating responses and gathering critical information for responders.

Successful candidates will work a rotating schedule including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Training will lead to state certifications within six months of hire, and a fingerprint-based background check is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for people in need of help.
• Coordinate effective response to calls for service.
• Develop incident resolution strategies.
• Search databases to find pertinent information for appropriate personnel (criminal history, stolen property, motor vehicle data).
• Document calls in computer aided dispatch system.
• Operate communications equipment, including CAD and radio systems.
