Job summary

Ozark Center Crisis Intervention Team seeks a Crisis Specialist to provide 24/7 crisis intervention with QMHP supervision and physician consultation when needed.

Duties include direct crisis management, coordinating referrals, and applying trauma-informed care to individuals affected by trauma.

Education options include a master’s in behavioral health (QMHP), QMHP credential, a bachelor’s in human services with experience, or a high school diploma with qualifying experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in behavioral health or related field and QMHP credentials, with practicum or 1 year of behavioral health experience.
• QMHP certification as outlined by Missouri Department of Mental Health.
• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with at least 1 year of behavioral health experience.
• High school diploma with four years of higher education and/or qualifying behavioral health experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical crisis intervention and hospitalization support in emergencies.
• Assure that the following basic principles of crisis intervention underlie delivery of these services: accessibility, involvement of significant others, present-focused care, stress reduction, and advocacy.
• Evaluate all Ozark Center patients at the Crisis Services Office by phone when needed.
• Provide phone consultation for ER patients requiring referrals or deposition.
• Knowledgeable in involuntary detention laws and procedures and consult with area Mental Health Coordinator and/or Community Behavioral Health Liaison.
• The Crisis Specialist reports to the Crisis Services Supervisor and operates under the administration of the Director and Assistant of Crisis Services.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Master’s degree in behavioral health or related field

QMHP credential

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with at least 1 year of behavioral health experience
