Job summary

Ozark Center Crisis Intervention Team seeks a Crisis Specialist to deliver 24/7 crisis intervention and resolution, with a 24-hour emergency hotline for prompt responses. Immediate physician access for consultation and face-to-face intervention is available when needed.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care and a dual recovery philosophy in a warm, empathic environment. The Crisis Specialist is supervised by a QMHP and cross-trained for other Crisis Services duties.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in behavioral health or related field meeting QMHP criteria and practicum or 1 year of behavioral health experience.
• Qualified Addition Professional (QAP) as outlined by Missouri DMH.
• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with at least 1 year of behavioral health or social service experience.
• High school diploma with combination of four years of higher education/qualifying experience in behavioral health.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical service in managing crisis intervention and hospitalization in emergency situations.
• Apply crisis intervention principles to ensure immediate access and involve significant others when possible.
• Evaluate Ozark Center patients at the Crisis Services Office by phone when necessary.
• Provide phone consultation for emergency room patients requiring referrals or deposition.
• Know involuntary detention laws and consult with the area Mental Health Coordinator or Community Behavioral Health Liaison.
• Report to the Crisis Services Supervisor and operate under Crisis Services Director and Assistant.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education

Master’s degree in behavioral health or related field (QMHP criteria)

Qualified Addition Professional (QAP)

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with 1+ year of behavioral health experience

High school diploma with four years of higher education/qualifying experience in behavioral health
