Position description

The Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology is accepting applications in the Specialist series.

Applications are sought from candidates with a PhD or MD. The Specialist will spend approximately 20% of their time in clinical pursuits under the supervision of a licensed member of the Department of Ophthalmology. The remaining 80% of the time will be spent in the Ophthalmology laboratory at UCI Medical Center in Orange, CA under the supervision of the Retina director.

This is an ongoing recruitment, dependent on extramural funding. Rank and salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at the time of application):

• Applicants must possess an M.D., or Ph.D. in Ophthalmology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or an equivalent field.
• Junior Specialist: Bachelor's degree or equivalent research experience.
• Assistant Specialist: Master's degree or five years of relevant experience.
• Associate Specialist: Master's degree or five to ten years of relevant experience.
• Specialist (Full Rank): Terminal degree or ten or more years of relevant experience.
