Position description

The Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, is accepting applications in the Specialist series.

Applicants with a PhD or MD are sought. The Specialist will spend approximately 20% of their time in clinical pursuits under supervision of a licensed member of the Department of Ophthalmology. The remaining 80% of the time will be in the Ophthalmology laboratory at UCI Medical Center, Orange, CA, under the supervision of the Retina director.

This is an ongoing recruitment, dependent on extramural funding. Rank and salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application):

• MD or PhD in Ophthalmology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related fields.
• Junior Specialist: Bachelor's degree or equivalent research experience.
• Assistant Specialist: Master's degree or five years of relevant experience.
• Associate Specialist: Master's degree or 5-10 years of relevant experience.
• Specialist (Full Rank): Terminal degree or 10+ years of relevant experience.
