Speech and Language Pathologist (5.0 FTE Positions)

Position #: 22857

Job Description: The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide assessment, therapy and consultation services for students ages 3‑21 with a variety of communication disorders. Services may be provided individually, in small groups or in classroom settings. The SLP functions as a member of a team in assessing, placing and programming for all disabled students. The SLP consults and collaborates with regular and special education teachers and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Washington State ESA certificate with Speech and Language Pathologist endorsement or ability to obtain it.
  • Master's degree in Speech Pathology.
  • Satisfactory evaluations.
  • Ability to complete Medicaid billing documentation, or willingness to obtain this skill upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Academic background in speech pathology and audiology.
  • Ability to complete assessments and develop appropriate IEPs and therapy.
  • Understanding of Federal and State laws pertaining to disabled students.
  • Confidentiality of work and professional ethics.
  • Time management and flexibility.
  • Positive, enthusiastic work with students.
  • Experience with students with autism and significant disabilities.
  • Teamwork with other professionals.
  • Maintain proper records and facilitate necessary paperwork.
  • Effective communication in individual, small groups and classroom settings.
  • Knowledge of in‑classroom services delivery model.
  • Spanish speaking.
  • Punctual and consistent attendance.
  • Knowledge of implementation and use of assistive technology.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands: Regular standing, walking, pushing or pulling 18‑26 lbs., sitting, kneeling, crouching, twisting, bending, typing, reaching with hands and arms.

Sense: Must be able to talk/hear conversations and other sounds; communicate effectively in person and over the telephone; taste and smell; vision abilities: close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Lifting: Lifting or moving up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally 26 lbs.; lift overhead. May need to move quickly in emergency or student supervision duties.

Work Environment: Employees work outdoors in temperatures ranging from –10°F to 100°F+. Possible wet/humid conditions, moderate noise level.
