The Contracted Services Division (CSD) is a fun, dynamic, fast paced and rewarding place to work where no two days are the same. Staff have great opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills, particularly on operational contract management, service improvement, stakeholder engagement, working with senior officials/ministers as well as working with commercial partners.
The team is responsible for the day-to-day operational contract and supplier management for a range of contracted services that support court and tribunal business; as well as ensuring effective and efficient contract procurement cycles. We review and continuously improve operational processes to ensure contracts provide a quality of service.
In your role as a Contract Manager, you will support the Senior Contract Manager and Head of Contracted Services in managing contracts that support the administration of justice across HMCTS.
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive individual with strong contract management, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills. You will be confident in investigating service delivery issues, interpreting performance data, managing supplier relationships and providing evidence-based recommendations to senior leaders. You will be able to work independently, manage competing priorities and build effective relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders while ensuring contracted services deliver value for money and meet operational needs.
Working closely with operational teams, suppliers, and stakeholders, you will monitor contract performance, investigate service delivery issues, and use data and insight to drive improvements and ensure value for money.
You are an effective people manager who can lead, motivate, and develop individuals to deliver high-quality outcomes with the ability to achieve organisational objectives.

The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and / or from home (please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas). All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity.
Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Similarly, Hybrid Working will not suit everyone’s circumstances. Arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and subject to regular review.
All successful candidates will be appointed to the nearest viable office nearest to their home postcode and on its respective pay scale. This will be at either a HQ building (subject to desk allocation, a Justice Collaboration Centre (JCC) or a Justice Satellite Office (JSO) – See Map. All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity).
For current MoJ employees, your base location will need to be changed to the nearest viable office (to your home postcode), either at a HQ building, JCC or JSO within the National Office Network and moved its location’s respective pay scale (any legacy arrangements/locations will need to be amended).
Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. MoJ candidates who are on a specialist grade, will be able to retain their grade on lateral transfer.

Annual leave is 25 days on appointment and will increase to 30 days after five years’ service.
