Schnuck Markets in Savoy, IL is hiring a checker to deliver friendly customer service at the register. You will greet customers, scan purchases, and handle various payment methods including EBT and WIC, while ensuring accurate coupon processing and proper cash handling.

Training is provided at store level. The role requires physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for 4–8 hours per shift; equal opportunity employer with a comprehensive benefits package available.

• Collect correct amount due from customer and handle payments (cash, checks, debit/credit, EBT, WIC).
• Complete register records accurately and maintain cash security.
• Bag customer orders and manage receipts.
• Other duties may be assigned by store management.

Job Description

This is not an official job description, but represents major responsibilities a new hire can expect to perform. You could expect the position of checker to include the following:

DUTIES

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
• Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Greet customers prior to checking their order
• Check out customer's purchases accurately
• Identify and know produce items and be able to properly use produce and product codes
• Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons
• Process manufacturer coupons
• Collect correct amount due from customer
• Use proper procedure of accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers and other payment options
• Complete register record accurately
• Practice and maintain cash security
• Bag customer orders
• Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes
• Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management

TRAINING

Training will be provided at store level.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Bending
• Stooping
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Working on feet entire shift (4-8 hours)

Additional Requirements - Internal Candidates

• Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Store Support Center Teammates: minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline).
• If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance.

Compensation Pay Range:

$15.35 - $16.50
