Job summary

CentraCare Health invites you to join a paid 10-week Summer Nurse Internship designed to prepare future nurses for real-world clinical settings. You will train under experienced RN preceptors, gain over 360 hours of hands-on clinical experience, and strengthen clinical judgment for a smooth transition to professional nursing.

Applicants must be enrolled in an ADN or BSN program, with BSN preferred, and meet BLS requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN program with an expected graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028 (BSN preferred).
• BSN candidates must have completed their junior year before start.
• ADN candidates must have completed at least one semester of acute care clinical rotations and adult health assessment.
• Must hold a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• Must be enrolled in an internship course through a college in Minnesota for the duration of the 10-week program.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
• Previous patient care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside RN preceptors providing mentorship, guidance, and support.
• Complete 360+ hours of hands-on clinical experience to strengthen clinical judgment.
• Follow RN preceptors' schedules and be available for all shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays).
• Apply for internship opportunities and discuss unit preferences during interviews.

As a Nurse Intern, you’ll work alongside experienced Registered Nurse preceptors who provide personalized mentorship, guidance, and support throughout your experience. With more than 360 hours of hands‑on clinical experience, you’ll strengthen your clinical judgment, build confidence, and bridge the gap between classroom learning and clinical practice. Many of our interns receive job offers before graduation, creating a pathway to a smooth transition into professional nursing practice.

Internship Locations

Available locations: St. Cloud Hospital, Rice Memorial Hospital (Willmar), Benson, Paynesville, Melrose, Sauk Centre, Long Prairie, and Redwood Hospital (Redwood Falls).

Internship Dates & Details

• Application Deadline: December 21, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
• Internship Offers Begin: February 1, 2027
• Program Dates: June 7 - August 13, 2027 (10 weeks)
• Schedule: Full-time, 72-80 hours every two weeks. Interns will follow their RN preceptor's schedule and must be available to work all shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Shifts may be 8-hours, 12-hours, or a combination depending on the unit. Schedules will be available in late May.
• Hourly Rate: $23.00 per hour
• Benefits: This is a temporary internship position and is not eligible for employee benefits.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited associate degree in nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, with an expected graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028. BSN candidates are preferred.
• BSN candidates must have completed their junior year prior to the start of the internship.
• ADN candidates must have completed at least one semester of acute care clinical rotations and adult health assessment.
• Must hold a current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification that remains valid throughout the internship.
• Must be enrolled in an internship course through a college of their choice in the state of Minnesota for the duration of the 10-week program.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
• Previous patient care experience is preferred.
