Job summary

Bloomberg Industry Group is seeking a summer intern to work on data-driven journalism projects in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

You'll gain hands-on experience, develop portfolio clips, and receive mentorship from seasoned editors while engaging with newsroom leaders. Summer housing is provided, and you'll participate in various charitable activities during the program.

Qualifications

• Experience with data journalism projects and reporting.
• Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets is required.
• Preference for Python or R for data analysis.
• Driven to produce high-quality reporting under deadlines.
• Willingness to collaborate with reporters and editors.

Responsibilities

• Engage in hands-on work on deadline as part of the newsroom team.
• Develop clips for a portfolio to showcase reporting work.

Job description

What you will do:

Hands-On Work Experience – Perform real work on deadline as a member of our team and walk away with clips to add to your portfolio. Learn to work with the sense of urgency and accuracy needed in a modern newsroom. Receive essential feedback and coaching from a mentor just as invested in your success as you are. Engage with senior leaders and expert professionals at Bloomberg Industry Group. Enjoy Convenient Summer Housing – We provide summer housing at local universities Participate in our charitable activities.

You need to have:

• Examples of data journalism you have worked on. Do not submit with your application. We will ask for them during initial screening.
• Experience with Excel or Google Sheets is required.
• Experience with R or Python is preferred.
• A drive to produce great reporting.
• Willingness to collaborate with our team of reporters and editors.
• At the start of Summer 2027, have completed at least three years of an undergraduate program (i.e., a rising senior), have just graduated from your college or university, or be enrolled in a graduate journalism program.
• Prior training or experience in data journalism.
• Ability to work within a team under deadline pressure.
