Job summary

Leonardo DRS in Melbourne, FL is offering a paid Summer Internship in the Electro Optical Infrared Systems division. You will work with engineers on projects, perform imaging analysis, and gain hands-on experience in lab and field testing while learning in a collaborative team.

The 12-14 week internship runs with a 9/80 schedule, first shift, onsite, and requires U.S. Citizenship. This opportunity supports career growth and hands-on development in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be actively enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate Engineering Program in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Have completed at least 2 years of college with a 3.0 GPA or better.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using your natural curiosity.
  • Work effectively as a member of a team or on individual tasks.
  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) onsite.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments.
  • Perform testing activities in an engineering lab environment and/ or outdoor field testing.
  • Conduct imaging analysis under the supervision of engineers.
  • Provide regular reporting of progress and status.
  • Complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Documentation of requirements, verification plans and test results.
  • Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs, and practices.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
  • Assist in the development of plant layouts, manufacturing methods and process improvements.
  • May coordinate maintenance projects.
