Job summary

Peterbilt Motors Company, part of PACCAR, is offering a Mechanical Engineer Intern position to join the Routings Development team in Denton, Texas. The internship provides hands-on design work and collaboration with multiple engineering groups across PACCAR divisions.

Responsibilities include CAD modeling in Creo, design analysis, DFSS components, and supporting supplier activities while developing professional skills in a global Fortune 500 environment.

Qualifications

• The candidate we seek will be currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or a related program.

Responsibilities

• Identify and initiate designs of a complex nature and conduct necessary research incidental to design.
• Complete design projects through planning, concept development, calculation and design analysis, packaging studies, design, testing, implementation, and evaluation.
• Use Windchill and Creo to create CAD models and drawings.
• Apply knowledge of stress analysis and FEA.
• Apply knowledge of various materials and manufacturing processes for components used in vehicle chassis.
• Apply knowledge of GD&T principles.
• Develop and support FMEA, DVP&R, and other aspects of DFSS.
• Support sourcing process and manage supplier activities related to design and manufacture of components.
• Coordinate and complete projects and design efforts with other engineering groups, departments, and divisions within the company, such as PACCAR Technical Center, DAF, Kenworth, and the PACCAR Engine Company.
• Prepare engineering activity status reports and other detailed reporting as directed.
• Identify, prioritize, and coordinate resolution of production, production control, and quality assurance issues as appropriate using a proactive approach.
