Producers Livestock is now accepting applications for our 2027 Summer Internship Program.
Intern will have the opportunity to work within each department while completing projects tailored to their primary interests and career goals. This hands-on experience is designed to provide a well-rounded understanding of Producers Livestock and the livestock industry as a whole.
Our marketing teams work directly with independent livestock producers to source feeder cattle and feeder pigs and market finished cattle and hogs. Intern will gain firsthand experience in livestock marketing, including opportunities to travel with agents throughout our Midwest trade territory, meet customers, visit livestock operations, and see how our agents help producers navigate the livestock market. Whether its buying cattle in a sale barn or at a video sale, or selling and shipping cattle from the feedlot, no two days look the same!
Our credit team partners with local banks to provide financing for the purchase of livestock and feed costs. Intern will learn about livestock lending, underwriting, credit relationships, and the role financing plays in supporting livestock operations. Intern will also have the opportunity to ride along with a field inspector to learn how collateral inspections help support the lending process. Credit office is located in Omaha, Nebraska.
Our commodities team works with independent livestock producers to identify and implement risk management strategies tailored to their individual operations. Working alongside licensed brokers, intern will gain exposure to tools such as hedging, put and call options, grain marketing, and Livestock Risk Protection (LRP) insurance. This experience offers insight into how producers manage market risk and make informed business decisions. Commodities office is located in Sioux City, Iowa.
Internship will be tailored to the interests and career goals of the intern with the opportunity to participate in unique industry events throughout the summer. Intern will be required to reside in or travel to Omaha, NE and Sioux City, IA throughout the duration of their internship. Some travel is required. Housing is not provided; however, assistance with housing arrangements is available. Students interested in pursuing careers in agriculture, agribusiness, finance, economics, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
