Job summary

Greater Omaha Packing Co., Inc. invites students to join its Summer Internship Program at our Omaha facility.

The 12‑week, paid, on‑site opportunity runs May through August 2027 and includes rotations across Quality Assurance, Supply Chain & Purchasing, and Data Analytics. Interns will work on department-specific projects, gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing and business environment, and receive mentorship, networking opportunities, and dorm-style housing.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in college or university and pursuing a related degree.
• Available to work full-time for ~12 weeks during summer 2027.
• Strong written and verbal communication and professional attitude.

Our Summer Internship Program gives college students an opportunity to explore career paths, gain practical experience, and contribute to meaningful work in a fast-paced manufacturing and business environment. Interns will learn how different areas of our organization work together while building professional skills and connections.

For summer 2027, we are seeking interns in the following areas:

• Quality Assurance
• Supply Chain & Purchasing
• Data Analytics

During the approximately 12-week program, interns will participate in a combination of department-specific assignments, business exposure, professional development, and hands-on learning.

The program is expected to include:

• An introductory rotation through key areas of our facility and operations
• A primary assignment within the intern's selected department
• One or more projects connected to business needs
• Guidance and support from an assigned mentor
• Opportunities to work with employees and leaders across the organization
• Professional networking and career development
• Volunteer, team‑building, and intern engagement activities
• A final presentation or project summary highlighting the intern's work and recommendations

The introductory rotation is designed to help interns understand how our operations, people, systems, and departments work together. The remainder of the program will focus primarily on the intern's functional area.

General Responsibilities

Depending on the internship area, interns may:

• Complete assigned department‑specific projects
• Gather, organize, and analyze information or data
• Prepare spreadsheets, reports, charts, and presentations
• Participate in meetings and collaborate with team members
• Communicate project updates, findings, and recommendations
• Learn company processes, systems, and industry practices
• Assist with department activities, events, or special projects
• Follow company safety, food safety, confidentiality, and workplace policies
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned

• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.

The work environment is a combination of corporate and manufacturing. While performing this job's duties, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold and humid conditions. In addition, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts. As a result, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold temperatures, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
