Job Description

The Role:

As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn how Manufacturing Engineers use PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to identify potential risks, improve quality, and make manufacturing processes better and safer.

You will work with experienced engineers and manufacturing teams to learn how PFMEAs are developed, reviewed, and used to support vehicle launches and current production.

This internship provides an opportunity to see how engineering concepts are applied in a real manufacturing environment. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, learn how manufacturing risks are identified and reduced, and develop technical, analytical, and teamwork skills that can help prepare you for a career in Manufacturing Engineering.

Required Qualifications:

• Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029
• Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week during the summer months

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to manufacturing, PFMEA, Control Plans, Standardized Work, or vehicle assembly is a plus-but not required
• Interest in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Automotive processes
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Willingness to learn and ask questions
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to learn and use Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other digital/analytical tools
• Ability to work effectively with different teams and business partners

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Technical Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum. Travel to manufacturing plants may be required.

GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2027 Student Program - to help facilitate administration of relocation benefits.

Start dates for this internship role are May 24th & June 14th of 2027.
