Job summary

Waymo is seeking graduate students for a hybrid internship in San Francisco to work on ML modeling, evaluation tools, and software within our autonomous driving platform.

You will prototype state-of-the-art evaluation tools, write code for Waymo’s simulator, and design experiments to assess ML discriminators while collaborating with onboard teams and safety stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in software development using C++ or Python.
• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
• Solid foundation in ML and statistics models, algorithms, and libraries.
• Knowledge of software systems, including distributed systems and accelerated computing.
• Interest in autonomous driving, simulation, evaluation, and physical AI.

• Collaborate across organizations to deliver impact to both onboard teams and downstream safety and simulation technology launch stakeholders.

You have:

• Enrolled in a graduate program (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in software development using C++ or Python.
• Solid foundation in core computer science concepts (data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design).
• Solid foundation in ML and statistics models, algorithms, and libraries.
• Knowledge of software systems, including distributed systems and accelerated computing.
• Interest in autonomous driving, simulation, evaluation, and physical AI.

We prefer:

• Knowledge/prior experience with physical systems (physics, robotics, physical AI).
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Strong written/verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Note: This will be a hybrid onsite internship position. We will accept resumes on a rolling basis until the role is filled.

The expected hourly rate for this full-time position is listed below. Interns are also eligible to participate in the Company’s generous benefits programs, subject to eligibility requirements.

Hourly Masters Pay

$70—$70 USD
