Job summary

Ghafari is seeking a summer intern to work fully in-office at our locations in Dearborn, MI, or Birmingham, AL for May–August 2027. The Intern applies CAD/Revit skills and design knowledge to generate engineering documents, digital models, and databases.

The role involves creating engineering documents with AutoCAD/Revit, collaborating with engineers to determine data needs, and producing final documents for review. A background as an engineering student with CAD proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline with at least two years of coursework completed.
• Previous internship/co-op experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with CAD software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Create engineering documents using CAD technology (AutoCAD and Revit).
• Collaborate with engineers to understand project scope and data needs.
• Produce drawings and 3D models; assist in document coordination and problem-solving.

General Summary

The Intern, under direction from the discipline Manager and/or project engineer, applies CAD/Revit skills and design knowledge in generating engineering design documents, digital models and databases.

Essential Job Functions

• Create engineering documents using computer aided design (CAD) technology utilizing AutoCAD and/or Revit software.
• Work closely with engineers during design phase of a project to understand scope of the project information to determine design data needs and guidelines for the project.
• Provide limited design on documents and detail design documents with input from engineers.
• Make corrections and produce final documents for engineers review. Check for integration of sections and coordination of disciplines. Work with engineers to resolve document coordination and production problems.
• Reproduce documents upon request.
• May produce drawings and digital design models in 3D software applications.
• Deploy team oriented problem solving.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications

Education

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master's degree in an engineering discipline at an accredited university. Students should have completed at least (2) years of classes.

Experience

• Previous internship/co-op experience is a plus

Skills/Competencies

• Working proficiency in design software applications (Revit, AutoCAD)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Capable of taking initiative; able to take direction
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
