Job summary

Ghafari Associates, LLC is seeking a summer intern to work fully in-office at our Chicago, IL location from May through August 2027. The role applies CAD/Revit skills to generate engineering design documents, digital models, and databases, under supervision of the discipline Manager and/or project engineer.

You will create documents using AutoCAD and Revit, collaborate with engineers during the design phase, and help ensure proper coordination across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline at an accredited university.
  • Students should have completed at least 2 years of classes.

Responsibilities

  • Create engineering documents using CAD technology (AutoCAD and/or Revit).
  • Collaborate with engineers during design phase to understand scope and data needs.
  • Provide limited design input on documents and detail design with engineers' input.
  • Make corrections and produce final documents for review by engineers.

Ghafari is seeking a summer intern to work fully in-office at our Chicago, IL location for the period of May - August 2027.

General Summary

The Intern, under direction from the discipline Manager and/or project engineer, applies CAD/Revit skills and design knowledge in generating engineering design documents, digital models and databases.

Essential Job Functions
  • Create engineering documents using computer aided design (CAD) technology utilizing AutoCAD and/or Revit software.
  • Work closely with engineers during design phase of a project to understand scope of the project information to determine design data needs and guidelines for the project.
  • Provide limited design on documents and detail design documents with input from engineers.
  • Make corrections and produce final documents for engineers review.
  • Check for integration of sections and coordination of disciplines.
  • Work with engineers to resolve document coordination and production problems.
  • Reproduce documents upon request.
  • May produce drawings and digital design models in 3D software applications.
  • Deploy team oriented problem solving.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Employment Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline at an accredited university.
    • Students should have completed at least (2) years of classes.
  • Experience:
    • Previous internship/co-op experience is a plus.
  • Skills/Competencies:
    • Working proficiency in design software applications (Revit, AutoCAD)
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Capable of taking initiative; able to take direction
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
Pay and Benefits
  • Full-time interns receive Paid Holidays.
  • The hourly pay rate for this position is $23.00 to $26.00.
  • Individual pay is based on factors such as relevant experience, job-related skills, education, and training.
