Job summary

First Citizens Bank offers a hybrid summer internship in Internal Audit designed to develop foundational audit skills and provide hands-on experience. Interns will work with seasoned audit professionals to learn audit processes, testing, and controls across the organization.

Selected candidates are rising juniors or seniors commutable to Charlotte, NC, with a 40-hour work week, and may receive an offer to join Internal Audit after the program.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college during the program.
• Pursuing a BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Data Analytics, IS, or Tech.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA and strong willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Develop core skills focused on internal audit practices, audit methodology, and technology-based systems.
• Contribute to audit team work delivering planned coverage, including testing of processes and internal controls.
• Be part of a dynamic team with interesting projects.
• Support research, analytics, projects, strategy, process improvement, and technology enhancements.
• Attend professional development sessions, informational sessions, networking, and community service events.
• Have a dedicated manager and program manager to navigate the internship.
• Be assigned a project to improve a process or solve a problem and present at internship close.
• Prepare a wrap-up presentation for division leaders outlining accomplishments.

Our interns will apply classroom knowledge in a corporate environment while making a positive impact across the organization and the communities we serve. Come help First Citizens build for the future! Interns will participate in an immersive and professional development program introducing interns to Internal Audit and First Citizens Bank. Interns will have the opportunity to learn alongside seasoned and experienced audit professionals to learn the foundations of Internal Audit and auditing processes. This program targets exceptional rising juniors and rising seniors and serves as a talent pipeline where successful interns may receive an offer to return and join Internal Audit. We are looking for candidates who are within a commutable drivable distance to our Charlotte, NC office.

In This Role, You Will

• Be assigned a project, designed to improve a specific process or solve a problem that you will present at the close of the internship.
• Prepare a wrap-up presentation to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company to outline your accomplishments and experience during the internship

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience
• Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during the time of the summer program)
• Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program

• BS/BA degree candidate: Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Data Analytic, Information Systems, or Technology related degree
