The World Bank Treasury offers a 10-week Treasury Summer Internship in Washington, DC, from June 1 to August 9, 2027. Interns will rotate through three Treasury teams in three-week intervals and participate in weekly program sessions with mentors and senior staff.
Interns are paid between $22.70 (net for non-US citizens) and $27.70 (gross for US citizens) per hour for 400 hours, with in-person work and visa sponsorship where required. A capstone project is presented to management at the end.

The Treasury Summer Internship Program is a junior professional training program designed to develop the skills necessary for an exciting and rewarding career in the financial industry. The Program aims to bring exceptional college students with a demonstrated interest in a financial career to support the World Bank’s development mandate. The internship lays the foundation for becoming a Junior Analyst, a two-year position on one Treasury team, immediately after the intern graduates from their degree program. Interns are expected to be in their second to final year in the equivalent of a four-year college degree program. Treasury Summer Interns will work full-time for ten weeks, from June 1 through August 9, 2027, in Washington, DC. The program begins with a customized onboarding week, after which interns rotate through three different Treasury teams in three-week intervals. Throughout the summer, interns engage in weekly discussions with the program director and attend technical and career-focused sessions with Treasury officers, managers, and directors. They also have access to the nearly 500-member Treasury team, including an opportunity to meet the Vice President & Treasurer. Each rotation concludes with a presentation to the respective team, and the internship culminates in a capstone project presented to the Treasury management team

Interns join on a short-term temporary contract and are paid between $22.70 (net – for non-US Citizens) and $27.70 (gross – for US Citizens) per hour for 400 hours. All interns are expected to be in person, full-time, in Washington, DC, for the entire internship (June 1 – August 9). HR policies may change, but interns are expected to work at least four days in the office per week. Each intern will receive a World Bank laptop at the start of the internship. The World Bank sponsors the appropriate visa for an incoming intern to work in the United States if required.
The program will hire up to 17 interns across Treasury’s 17 teams this summer, and each intern will have a different rotation schedule to create a diverse and unique experience. Treasury comprises five main departments: Asset Management, Partnership & Advisory, Capital Markets, Treasury Clients Solutions & Structuring, Treasury Operations, and Pension & Endowments, in addition to the Treasury Risk, Compliance, and Controls team. Throughout their internship, each participant will be paired with a mentor and coordinator for each rotation, to provide guidance and support. Interns will engage in specific projects or tasks as directed by their team at the outset of each rotation.
