Job summary

MKS invites you to join as a Continual Improvement intern in Rock Hill, SC. You will collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, internal teams, Sales and leadership to drive process improvements under the Continual Improvement Manager.

You will apply lean six sigma, data analytics, value stream mapping, and visual factory concepts to benchmark processes and perform root cause analyses while developing strong analytical and presentation skills.

  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Ability to work 35–40 hours per week.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and effective presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; familiarity with Teams and SAP is helpful.

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Continual Improvement intern at MSD, you will partner with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Internal Teams, Sales, Customers, etc. to Executive leadership, procurement, and quality teams. In this role, you will report to the Continual Improvement Manager.

You Will Make an Impact By applying the continual improvement and analytical tools such as lean (Toyota process system), six sigma, A3, 8D, Value Stream mapping and more.

Skills You Bring:

  • Qualified candidates will be pursuing a degree in Engineering or another related field.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 35-40 hours per week.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, and effective presentation skills.
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and SAP is helpful.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and present, create and interpret graphs.
  • Strength in decision making, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, testing/sampling methods, and food safety.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule, with occasional extended work hours.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Site Leadership, Value Stream Owners, internal customers, colleagues.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret charts and graphs for process capabilities.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time
  • Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information
  • The ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Operates in a professional office environment
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually average

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly Pay Range: $25.00 to $28.00 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Benefits: MKS offers a benefits package for interns/co-ops working at least 20 hours per week, including 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 paid vacation days accrued on a biweekly basis.

The application period for the intern/co-op position is estimated to be through the end of November 2025; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates
